HauntedMo, HMPS, Haunted Missouri Paranormal Studies (tm)has entered into an agreement
with the owners of the Academy to allow investigators and teams access to this historic location
for research purposes who will research in tandem with us.
The owners of the Academy are very upstanding, decent people. They run a small mom and
pop/family operation and treat the whole 200 room complex as if it was there home. Which it is.
For that reason they have only a few very strict guidelines for our guests that we bring in to help
the investigations.
1. The fourth floor is their private living quarters and is NOT to be entered.
2. They do not appreciate nor support horror, goth or genre (including horror, classic B movie
witch, vampire, creature and the like) displays and their convictions run so deeply that they
reserve the right to decline the rental of their facilities to anyone who wants to do theme events
with the genre, much less actually practice Magic, promote or play at it.
It is their privilege to decline to share their space with anyone who intends to hold seance's or use
a an Ouija board. It is our privilege to ask our guests to respect those two stipulations; their
privacy and their beliefs.
We add to those two stipulations on the behalf of the owners (Brenda and Lamar Oyler)
1. To restrict the use of their strained utilities to the room which you are currently presiding at all
times
DUE TO a dearth of working outlets and the distances in between we encourage battery operated
devices and caution that some have experiences as high as triple the rate at which their standard and
rechargeable batteries drain of power. Be Prepared! WARNING: It is also several miles to a
convenience store and it does not stay open all night.
2. To keep the volume to a minimum after 10 pm. INDOOR VOICES please. We will make sure you
are aware of the locations in the Halls that transmit sound to the owners apartments like the
stairwells, dining halls and courtyard.
Other than those simple guidelines we have 30 acres, a grotto, a cemetery, a spring house, a
playground, a chapel, a theatre, a gymnasium, the Priests House(this is the B&B and is off
limits unless you rent one of their rooms, the Sophomore Dorm (if ready), the Jr and Sr Halls and
rooms, the Study Hall, several former Administrative Offices and a spectacular courtyard at our
discretion.
The only thing we ask of the teams who want to come and investigate at this location is
1. That they waive responsibility of accident and injury while investigating for both AVA and
HMPS, taking responsibility for their teams actions as well as their own where applicable.
We are trying to raise funds for this location to be preserved and must take this precaution to
discourage gratuitous litigation. It is a 150 year old location in constant repair and occasional
disarray due to the ongoing preservation work. Participate at your own risk. Every reasonable safety
precaution will be made or made available for your free will choice; meaning you may not be under
constant surveillance and are on your honor to take reasonable and expected safety precautions of
your own volition.
2. HauntedMo aka Haunted Missouri Paranormal Studies (HMPS) (tms) will credit you, or your
team where applicable, with co- copy right of any and all evidence collected while we are on a
joint investigation under the HMPS (TM) banner of "Preservation Investigations" with you. In
return we ask to be credited with co-copy right status on the evidence collected by you and/or
your team while on the premises at our invitation.
'Copy Right 2008 "Your name or team name"& HMPS'
or something like (this mark, above) would identify all of our evidence; pictures, audio, video and
research. In this way and we would ask for the same from you.
This is also a precautionary measure to insure that the DATA COLLECTED for this location stays
together, inviolate of outside influences and will always be available to the owners, future owners
and/or their representatives as well as the two originating parties.
In other words we can't decide to take our dolly and go home, rip you of permission to use any
evidence you or we accumulated through our combined effort and hard work at the location and
neither can our guests. The goal remains focused on collecting evidence for the location and
preserving original copy right.
We are limiting invitations to investigate at this time to people and teams with whom we have
investigated at other locations prior to this, those highly recommended or referred. We may offer
the opportunity to other communities along the way but we do not want to impose, hard sell, or
Spam any community that has opened its doors and heart to us.
Our goal is to create quiet excitement for the location and to let word of mouth do the rest
depending only on our participants to responsibly advertise and report their parts in the effort to
collect data on this location and raise funds for this locations preservation efforts. We need and
want small groups, new or established, who share our ideals, goals and who come out to
investigate with us.
No SCREAMING DECLARATION of what we have or haven't found, or grandiose versions of
the local ghost stories we are told (and there are beginning to be a few) just the location, the
history and the opportunity to be involved with an ongoing investigation at a former Catholic
girls school and civil war hospital. We will make all research available to all investigators, giving
each of us the foundation of the accumulated historical facts and records of those who have
investigated before us and ask in return that you share your research, evidence and historical
records, facts and lore with us for the compilation.
Investigation dates BEFORE the FIRST CONFERENCE are limited to June 21, July 26, and
August 30. Contact belinda@hauntedmo.com for further information.
