The *MOST* important service we offer:
The most important service that we can offer you is a a promise to refer you to another
person, team or group if we can not offer the kind of help, support or encouragement that
you require for a satisfactory outcome to your query.
In the years that we have been investigating, networking and making connections in the
paranormal field we have made many associations. Over 98% of the teams, groups and
individuals that we have worked with in the past are still in our working circle of friends
and can be called on for referring customers to them, helping us with investigations or are
otherwise still available to us to offer help to our clients.
Some of our affiliates have specialized niches that may be more in line with the kind of
interaction that your individual case requires to come to a satisfactory conclusion. If this is
the case we will offer you that information as quickly as possible and put you in touch with
another who can be of service to you.
In the past few months we have referred people to reputable groups closer to them than
we are. This was not to pass the buck but to offer the best customer service possible. If
you are working with a group, team or individual who takes 4 or 6 hours to get to your
location they are not going to be convenient to you. We would rather refer you to people
we trust who would be more local to you than "hog" the field to ourselves and put your
best interests second to our own.
We promise you a referral to a qualified associate if for any reason we feel that they
would better benefit you or your situation. It isn't about *US*.
The Convivial Method
Paranormal Research Technique
by Haunted Missouri Paranormal Studies
There are no wrong ways to research the paranormal, not once you eliminate the drinking
and drugs factor and we all agree that investigations should be done sober and drug free.
Some groups believe in "baiting" and others in "data collection" and still others have
designated sleepers. None of that is what I would classify as "wrong".
"Baiting" is the method by which groups attempt to draw the spirits out by use of
fragrances, chimes and other factors that are widely believed to "encourage" ghostly
activity while those who employ a designated sleeper are obviously going on the
assumption that since phenomena happens while people are sleeping that perhaps a
sleeping person might encourage anomalies.
There are those that believe that anything except naturally or supernaturally occurring
instances are not worth reporting, so that if you "Bait" it detracts from the data collected,
but I do not think that the convivial method falls into that category.
Our team employs a method that we call convivial. Most ghostly activity goes on in a
home when the family is doing its natural things, living life and not watching and waiting
for them to happen, right? We thought we might be able to turn that into a theory for ghost
hunting and it has met with some success. This is how we are going about data collection
and gathering some good results:
In advance of an investigation our team historian, or researcher, if you prefer; will gather
all the information she can using the internet, local sources such as Courthouses and such.
She then compiles all of her information and meets us at the designated location. We go
into the location and walk it out, discuss the bare bones of the events with the residents,
and decide on where we will set up recording equipment. Most of the time there is the
advance contact person who has more in depth knowledge of the haunting than the rest of
the team. If so; this person—like the historian—keeps the facts to themselves and the team
does not know the particulars of the individual haunting.
The advance contact person interviews the residents using one of three questioners
compiled from several effective ones used by The Mesa Project, North Florida Paranormal
Research, Inc. and our own. Release forms and permissions to post, print and reprint
should be signed at this time by anyone who wishes their experiences to be included in the
report or in any other write up of the events that may result from the investigation. These
safe guards all parties involved and save you time and trouble later.
As one might guess from the name we believe that basic relaxed human interactions may
encourage ghostly activity. We travel with food because of a diabetic member of the team.
According to the doctors the best way to deal with diabetes is to eat small, balanced meals,
and since there may not be access to a buffet in a remote graveyard or abandoned and
crumbling facility we got used to bringing our own. Tonya Clark, our co-founder, and me
are both from food service backgrounds and we are both the mothers of "SONS", meaning
that we know how to be around eaters, those who love to eat and those who just eat
because they CAN. The result is that we pack enough food for a small army.
Last year, quite by accident, while on an investigation at The Magnolia Manor with our
former team, The Ghoststalkers of West Tennessee, we took a break to have our
sandwiches and snacks. As is our disposition we invited the others to join us and set out
several plates of food to share. We gathered for about an hour, sipping cool drinks, visiting
and sharing a meal. At the end of our break the talk turned back to the investigation and
we noticed that activity had increased about us as we relaxed.
We had a very eventful session with the divining rods at this point and the "idea" of the
convivial method was planted in my head. Since then we have made it a point to include
the basic human intervention of sharing food and drink at some relaxed time during our
investigation. It should be noted that after each relaxed break there was an INCREASE is
phenomena!
Now, of course; what data one collects is an individual researcher's forte. Some do not use
any information gained in any divination rituals in their reports at all, and I respect that.
Others like us; do not mind mentioning these pursuits and will include them in their case
studies when and if they turn up any information that can be independently documented.
That is a distinction that each group must decide for themselves, as is most all of this.
Does the act of breaking bread hold significance or is it the relaxation that does it? Perhaps
it is the bonding of the individuals that makes this method work for us? Maybe it is the
individuals coming together as a group that is solidified by the conviviality of a shared bite
to eat? I do not claim to know why, but it does seem to work for us.
It is our goal to use this method, along with a "timeline" and graphing of phenomena like
temperature changes, magnetic fields, EMF, EVP, and other criteria to put together a
report that might document the happenings in a reportedly haunted location. (These
phenomena to include "visual, auditory, olfactory, sensed presences, tactile experiences,,
object movement, erratic functioning of equipment, unexplained sudden emotional
experiences- blah blah blah," to quote our associate T. M Harte, of Mesa)
Haunted Missouri Paranormal Studies does not wish to present ourselves as an expert in
paranormal research. All that we have learned has been from hands on experiences. Our
trials and errors, good times, interesting data, pictures are the sum total of what we have
learned so far. Our goal is to continue to grow and learn and maybe to share some of what
we have gained along the way with like minded people. It is our hope that we are able to
take this methodology and build from here.
Data collection of paranormal research is not a regulated field, so to us it is important to
learn and share the way we go about collecting data and with the way we assimilate that
data. The convivial method breaks the research blocks up into 2 hour intervals, so clearly
marked data from those blocks of time can be gone through, evaluated and presented in a
reasonable amount of time.
The shorter periods of time will make it easier to correlate team member's whereabouts,
list who, what, where and how. It would be possible to gather data over four-- two hour
time blocks during one over night case study. That data would then, over time, be able to
give us a fairly accurate idea of paranormal activity at that location.
The convivial method requires that we then, over a hearty breakfast in the company of
friends and acquaintances (or a truck stop snack if that's the way it goes) we go over our
experiences, compare times& notes and our intrepid historian gets to lay her work out for
the team. This gives us the opportunity to see if any "blind hits" were touched upon by any
participants who may have had the rare honor of syncing up with the other side.
The advance contact person would then share the full details of the haunting phenomenon
and we could see if the experiences correlate or seem to have no bearing. The "reveal"
would then come at a later date after all of the collected data was scrutinized and an
appointment was made with the residents to present the findings.
The way you choose to present your report is, once more; strictly your concern. We use a
case study form that was reader friendly and short. Our investigations are listed on our site
and anyone with a need to know about a specific location may request the more detailed
report be sent to them. That's how we are doing things for right now.
That's kind of the theme of this thing we do; in essence. We want to be laid back and
aware, relaxed and watchful, with an emphasis on enjoying ourselves and the company.
We want to be fully present in the times we inhabit.
That's The Convivial Method. We use the equipment accepted by the paranormal
community at large in our research, EMF detectors, Thermometers, audio and video
recorders, sensitive and some forms of divination. Please contact us if you would like
further assistance or have any questions about how we do things.

Step One: The Preleminary Interview/Investigation
Preliminary investigation consists of an interview with witnesses of your situation at your
convenience, a tour of the property and a small collection of data gained by non obtrusive
methods (listed above) usually a two hour block.
This is a FREE SERVICE, as all of our services are.
*
Step Two: Journaling Instructions & Ongoing Support
We offer our best advice available to clients who are coping with unusual or alleged
paranormal activities. This advice is to create and maintain a "Haunt Journal". What makes
maintaining a "Haunt Journal" the best advice we can offer? It is invaluable for several
reasons.
First, people are notoriously bad witnesses. Thats why the United States court system will
not convict a person on the basis of an eye witness account with no other evidence. By
writing your experiences down as soon as they occur you are taking the "recollection"
factor out of it.
Secondly; by marking down facts like the day, date, time, weather, other witnesses and
other seemingly minor facts it will eventually flesh out a more complete picture of what
your situation entails. Such as cycles of activity that coincide with the weather, phases of
the moon or the anniversary of specific historical events. This will ade in further historical
research of your phenomena.
Also, once you are in the habit of journaling, be it personal or a family project; it helps to
take the "spook" factor out of the situation. Your response to a supernatural event will be
"I have to get all the information down about this occurrence" instead of "Dude! Run!". It
helps to "normalize" the situation especially for children who will see your attitude and
demeanor change and be less trepidations about the occurrences; as will you.
This instruction and ongoing support is also a FREE SERVICE.
*
Step Three: Ongoing Instruction in Documentation
Our team will teach you how to record your own pictorial evidence using still photography,
analog and digital, video both analog and digital and audio both analog and digital. You will
receive ongoing instruction and support as you deem necessary in recording anecdotal
evidence for future reference. This can be done to coincide with the teams more formal
and controlled investigations or you may chose to take over the data collection and
documentation of the phenomena instead of "our" investigations.
Our goal is not to keep you tied up with our data collection. It is to make you comfortable
in your surroundings, help you take charge of your environment and situation and improve
your quality of life.
This service is also FREE of CHARGE.
*
Step Four: Investigation
Our investigations (once more FREE OF CHARGE) are handled under STRICT codes of
conduct and conducted under stringent controls that help us remove the human error factor
from our data collection. We create a time line that can reconstruct every investigators
whereabouts at any given time during an investigation making it possible to determine if a
"shadow" picture or audio recording might be attributed to a normal source as opposed to a
paranormal source.
Investigations consist of two hour blocks of data collection taken over a course of time that
is most convenient to the client. They do not have to be all at one time or even during the
dark of night. Your convenience and comfort will dictate how long, how frequently or how
briefly we will conduct the time block data collections.
*
Step Five: Follow up
Follow up may consist of many things from our detailing our findings and showing you or
evidence to returning for ongoing investigations or instructing you on how to continue the
ongoing investigations on your own. This is a customized FREE SERVICE that varies
from case to case, as merited by your situation.
Haunted Missouri Paranormal Studies treats every situation as a unique experience. We do
not bring preconceived ideas in to your circumstances and try to hammer your private
dilemma into a cookie cutter, formulaic horror story for our own gain. Complete privacy is
our promise.
